Teaching
I was the instructor of record for ECON 314: Economics of Developing Countries in Spring and Summer 2026. I designed the course around my strong conviction that students can only appreciate economics by applying it, not just memorising it.
The course moves from macroeconomic models of development to applied microeconomic research, with students using causal inference to engage directly with academic papers. Alongside more conventional assessment, I used a viva and a project in which students explained and defended a research paper and considered how to extend the existing research. I aim to leave students not only able to understand economic research, but with a kernel of curiosity to question it and, perhaps, contribute to it themselves.
